PSLE Week 22 Update

The first week of the school holidays ended with GG & BB having done three of their five Hindi extra lessons. Like I mentioned earlier, there’s only one clear week where they don’t have extra lessons.

The news of 12 year old Primary students being stranded in Sabah while on a school camp really broke my heart. Apparently there are confirmed reports of one girl who died. These are children who are the same age as my BB & GG and I can imagine what must be going through the parents minds and hearts. I can’t imagine a life without my children…Praying that they get as many out and safe as possible.

Our last week movie plans went flop, so hoping we mange to do it this week!

PSLE Week 21 Update

It’s the first day of the June holidays for BB & GG, but out of the four off weeks they get, they have to go back to school for two of them for extra lessons. Also, this is the one solid month they get to prep for their PSLE exams as the prelims will come soon after school starts at the end of the month.

Yesterday BB, me and another friend with his parents went to the open house for the boys Dream School. I think BB has been living and dreaming of going to this school in Jan 2016 since the start of the year and he loved the school yesterday. He had some hands on science sessions and I could really see him enjoy that. I always felt this school would be a good fit for BB. Now I need to put in his application and get him to take the tests needed!

To start the school holidays and give the kids a small break, we’ve decided to see a movie today evening. My first choice – a Hindi Bollywood film – is completely full, so we’ll go to a neighbourhood theatre to see a film of GG’s choice. BB is ambivalent – he does not care either way….

PSLE Week 20 Update

We’re in the last week before the June holidays which for any P6 student is the month of intensive drilling for the PSLE!

GG & BB got their marks back from school and I can only say this – they can do much better! GG had atrocious marks in Maths, but other than that not bad…

They have Hindi special lessons at the DAV HQ for five days which my helper has to go to and then a week or so of special lessons in school.

The year is speeding away and I can only hope it ends well for us!

PSLE Week 19 Update

We’re almost done with the exams – with Science tomorrow to end the last SA1 in Primary school!

The rest of the month will be taken by school and then a month of holidays (which is going to be spent in school and other classes) before term 3 and prelims….

BB & GG had a milestone yesterday. S was unable to pick them up from Hindi and usually this means I go down to pick them up. The school where they have the class is not too far – around 10-15 minutes by car, but it involves two bus rides to get home. I have seen other children go home by themselves and so thought it’s time we make GG & BB independent. After all from next year, they may need to take public transport to get home from school. So they came home from Hindi school alone – a first for them! I am quite proud for them 🙂

PSLE Week 18 Update

BB and GG have been busy these days studying for their SA 1 written exams which start from next week. They have English on Wednesday, Maths on Thursday and Science the Monday after that.

I also started the process of BB’s DSA application in his dream school. The application process needs his marks from P4 till the P6 SA1. Marks except for Hindi are not too bad, and I’ve told him to do his best for this exam which then goes into the application for his dream school!

Oh and before I forget BB and GG gave me the sweetest Mother’s Day Card, all hand drawn by GG. Actually it was GG’s work and BB just tagged along for the ride! But it’s the thought that counts right? Happy Mother’s Day everyone…

Back to the grindstone now for BB & GG…
