Some throwback pictures of our trip to Yogyakarta in 2016. This is from an open-air performance of the Indian mythological epic Ramayana which was held against the gorgeous Prambanan temples. The Javanese version is slightly different from the Indian version, though the main characters and events remain the same. It’s more the way it’s been depicted that’s different and as an Indian brought up with the traditional version of the epic, it was very interesting.

The evening was truly a wonderful and enchanting one and for anyone planning a trip to Yogyakarta, please do check the performance schedules and make sure you are able to catch it!
