2018 Secondary 3 Week 18 Update

It’s exams week in our home so not much to update except exam related stuff.

Both are almost at the 50% of exams as of today and they have another four days of exams to go which end later in the week. The week will end with a holiday for both for marking so we’ll start to know the results when school starts again on 14 May.

As for exams, with the exception of a couple of subjects, both GG & BB say they have done reasonably well. As usual, BB has made some careless mistakes (I am still waiting for an exam where he manages to complete an exam without these mistakes). I’ll know for sure when the papers come back after being corrected.

Hope you’ve had a good weekend so far!

2018 Secondary 3 Week 17 Update

Exams started on Friday for GG and will start from tomorrow

GG also fell sick the day before her exams started because she sat next to two classmates who had a cold. I really need to start working on her immune system, probably a project for next month.

As for BB, he is still not taking things seriously. What I’ve done now is tell him target marks I want from him for his core Maths and Science subjects. The number of marks he gets less than that will be the number of pages of an assessment book he has to do daily once the marks come in. Lets see how he reacts to this. He is smart, but lazy, so I do know he can achieve what I ask him to do!

Ok, back to my work as a mum. Have a happy Sunday people!

2018 Secondary 3 Week 16 Update

Tis the season for mid-year exams, la…la…la

GG’s school starts their mid-year exams at the end of this week and BB’s school starts next week. Both their exams end on the same day and they have a longish weekend for paper marking and then it will be results time!

I have been behind BB a lot these days because he has become very lax with regard to his school work. As I write this post, both are busy doing timed papers. I really hope he does enough to do decently in his exams. I’ve given him multiple pep talks and am so frustrated that all my talks seem to go in from one year and get out from the other year without spending time in his brain.

GG, on the other hand, is more focused on her work. She knows what subjects she is weak in and spends more time on those.

Ok, got to go and check on them. Hope you have been having a fantastic Sunday so far!

2018 Secondary 3 Week 15 Update

Another week and we are inching closer to the mid-year exams. GG has started to become stressed over the exams because this is the first major exam she will be giving after moving to the upper stream.

BB, on the other hand, seems as blase as he usually is. Sometimes (actually most times), I worry about this boy. When I ask him what he wants to do in life, beyond saying he wants to become an aeronautical engineer, he does not know.

Other than that, nothing much happened in school.

Have a great Sunday folks!

2018 Secondary 3 Week 14 Update

This was the week when both have gotten the mid-year exams timetable and I have been, as usual, nagging them on starting to do up a timetable to plan their studies.

This week was also the Student Leader Investiture Ceremony in GG’s school where not only was she the main emcee for the event, but she also got the appointment letter appointing her as Vice President of her CCA! But the flip side of this honour is that she has become busier and I don’t want this to affect her studies and focus in any way. So  I guess, I have to be there for her, and guide her on good work-life balance and start these lessons young.

Other than that, this was the usual school week.
