Happy Birthday to you….

Today GG & BB turn 8. Happy birthday sweeties!! The last eight years have been a fun-filled roller-coaster ride for all of us. We’ve had our share of sweetness and some sadness, but overall, it’s been delightful and I am glad that nature thought us worthy of the twins!

They’ve taken some sweets – Smarties to share with their friends in school. Tonight their school celebrates the Mid Autumn Festival and Family Day and we’re sure to have a blast there also. Enjoy your day darlings and we’ll continue our studies and work tomorrow…

Here are a couple of videos for your enjoyment!

Happy Birthday Sweethearts

D&P turn 7 today. My babies are growing up and not the toddlers of yesterday. Last night while putting them to sleep, I told them their birth story, which they love to hear.

They share their birthday with Minister Mentor Lee Kwan Yew, the man who is credited as being the architect of modern Singapore. MM Lee turns 87 today so here’s wishing him a very Happy Birthday too! My wish for D&P is that they emulate the man they share their birthday with and even if in their lives, they achieve a quarter of he had achieved, I’ll be a very happy mom.

On another note, last month when they had their medical check-ups in school, they were asked to visit the School Health Services’ Refraction Clinic. We made the trip on Monday and now both D&P have to wear corrective glasses – P for myopia and D for Astigmatism and myopia. They started wearing their new glasses from last night and looked so cute in it, if I may say so

Sunday

I am watching the diving preliminaries of the first ever Youth Olympic Games being held in Singapore. This is being hailed as a very historic event here and the Singapore government has spent about S$ 300 billion on it. This event is before another high profile event – the Formula 1 race which takes place next month here.

Nanyang Technological University where I work in is the official games village. About half the campus has been cordoned off and in the process I have to make a good trek to reach the closest bus stop to my office.

The past few days saw me having excruciating pain in my legs, especially in the heel. It was bad in the morning, but gradually petered off during the day and by the time I went to bed, the pain was quite bearable. Yesterday morning was unbearable – I could not even walk to the bathroom and so decided to see the doctor. The diagnosis was an inflammation of my Achilles tendon. (here’s the Wikipedia link to what it actually is). The medicines were very effective and with one dosage the pain was almost gone. Today the pain is hardly there.

D&P want to go swimming at their friend L’s place. The sky is ominously dark and it looks like rain. The pool will be closed if it rains and D is very disappointed if it happens. We’re going to take a chance but this depends on how soon P completes his homework.

Update – We did go swimming and both had a great time with their friend.
