Poem: New Year, New Beginnings

New Year, New Beginnings

The clock strikes twelve, a year takes flight,
Leaving echoes in the falling night.
Confetti rains, a glittering shroud,
On memories whispered, on dreams avowed.

Then dawn ignites, a canvas bare,
Painted by the hopes that fill the air.
Resolutions bloom like fragile buds.
Visions whispered where doubt once thudded.

Unburdened steps, on frosted streets,
Embrace the chill and the promise it brings.
For yesterday’s scars, though faint they trace,
Hold no dominion in this open space.

Let go of burdens, shed the tears,
With laughter’s light, dispel past fears.
Each page unturned, a chance to soar,
To rewrite stories, mend, and explore.

Embrace the dawn; let the echoes ring.
A melody of hope, like a sparrow’s wing,
New beginnings, a phoenix’s flight,
Rising from ashes to the morning light.

So raise a glass, to chapters turned,
Dreams ignited, lessons learned.
May this new year bring joy and happiness.
Fill every corner with light and zero bias.

Let resolutions soar, like kites on high,
As aspirations blossom, reaching the sky,
The New Year is a canvas, pure and bright.
A masterpiece of chances, bathed in light.

In the New Year, like a blooming flower,
We find the strength, the inner power.
The year lies open, a boundless quest,
It’s a new year and with these new beginnings, everything is blessed.

Poem: The Forgotten Diary

The Forgotten Diary

In the quiet hush of the attic’s embrace,
Amidst the dust and shadows’ chase,
I found a relic of a bygone year.
A forgotten diary, whispering secrets near.

Its cover is time-worn, leather-bound,
Held stories within, in faded ink, unbound.
The ink that once danced with fervour and grace
Now aged, its tales are etched on time’s face.

I cradled it gently, like a fragile heart,
A portal to moments, a forgotten art,
The diary’s pages, a silent plea,
To unlock its secrets, set them free.

I turned the pages, a journey in ink,
To the world of the diary’s keeper, I’d think,
In a sepia-toned world of yesteryears,
I found their joys, hopes, and fears.

In cursive loops, they poured their soul,
Each entry is a piece of a life, a whole,
Dreams penned in the soft candlelight,
Worries are hidden beneath the cover of the night.

They spoke of love, pure and true,
Of a world once vibrant, where dreams once grew,
But as I read on, a tear I’d find,
The diary held heartaches left behind.

Through ink-stained pages, their life unfurled,
A map of their heart, a vintage world,
The forgotten diary, a time machine,
Revealing a life that once had been.

In those quiet moments, as I read,
I felt their presence, their every need,
For in this attic’s dusty, secret lair,
Their memories lived on, suspended in the air.

So, I closed the diary with reverence and care,
Tucked it away, in its hiding, aware,
Though the diary’s keeper was long gone,
Their words and dreams would forever dawn.

Poem: Turning Fifty

I am turning 50 very soon and am looking forward to hitting this milestone birthday. I know many people dread turning the half-century mark, but I was anticipating it. I feel I can become freer with my thoughts and live a life without a filter. This poem is my thoughts on turning 50.

Turning 50

The day is finally here
One that I have for with suppressed cheer
In the golden glow of the last fifty years,
I stand, triumphant, unafraid, a canvas painted with joy and tears.

I look back and reflect on my life, on the years gone by
The laughter, tears, and reasons why.
I think back on the decades of my life,
A good life, if I may say so, one without much pain and strife

As a young adult, I took flight,
A world of wonder was awaiting me, new and shining bright,
With dreams as vast as endless skies,
I spread my wings, prepared to rise.

Through twists and turns, I found my way,
To a path that led to each new day,
I crossed the ocean to make a new life and faced challenges that came my way,
Carved strength from within, come what may.

Now at the crossroads of life, fifty years,
A chapter ends, and a new one appears,
With the wisdom earned and a steady gaze,
I welcome how and what the future brings and plays.

I am no longer bound by youth’s desire,
Because I’ve found my purpose, my inner fire,
Each wrinkle tells the world a story that is true,
Of life’s rich journey, old and new.

The dreams of youth, I’ll not let fade,
For these are seeds that life has laid,
With the lessons learned, I now believe,
There are still things I have to achieve.

As fifty candles flicker bright,
I’ll embrace the day, the darkest night,
For life’s an ever-changing dance,
And I’ll keep twirling, taking the chance.

With gratitude for the last fifty years,
I’ll face the future, free from fears,
For all that’s passed and all that’s new,
I celebrate my life, the pink and the blue.

So here’s to fifty, an age so fine,
A sparkling toast to me, and to time,
With open arms, I welcome in,
The next adventures I’ll begin.

Poem: Friendships

Friendships are life’s gifts that keep on giving. They are the threads that weave the fabric of our lives and the bonds that uplift us, support us, and bring joy to our days. True friendships go beyond surface-level interactions and create a sense of belonging, trust, and understanding. They offer a safe space where we can be ourselves, share our joys and sorrows, and find comfort in times of need. Friendships provide companionship, laughter, and a shoulder to lean on, reminding us that we are never alone on this journey. They enrich our lives and leave an indelible mark on our hearts, reminding us of the power and beauty of human connection. On that note, here’s a poem that celebrates the beauty of friendships.

Poem: Friendships

In the tapestry of life, friendships bloom,
A kaleidoscope of colours, casting away gloom.
Like delicate flowers, they grace our days,
Guiding us through life’s meandering maze.

Friends are the stars that light up the night,
Glowing with warmth, their love shining bright.
Through laughter and tears, they stand by our side,
With open hearts, in them, we confide.

A friend is a melody, harmonising our soul,
Their presence is a balm that makes us whole.
In their embrace, our spirits find release,
A sanctuary of trust, offering inner peace.

They lift us when we stumble and fall,
Supporting our dreams, answering the call.
With every word spoken, a bond is sealed,
A connection so profound, it’s never concealed.

In times of sorrow, they’re a comforting shoulder,
Whispering solace, making our burdens grow colder.
They celebrate our triumphs, big and small,
Cheering from the sidelines, cheering through it all.

Friendships are bridges, crossing divides,
Uniting hearts, no matter the tides.
Through differences and diverse paths, we roam,
True friends are a place where we find a home.

They’re the laughter that echoes in memories past,
The secrets we share, forever they’ll last.
In a world full of chaos, they’re a beacon of light,
Guiding us forward, shining pure and bright.

So let’s cherish these treasures, these friendships we hold,
For they are more precious than silver or gold.
With love as the thread that weaves us as one,
Friendships endure, their beauty never undone.

Poetry: Expressing Emotions through the Beauty of Words

Growing up, while I loved to read and would find something to read everywhere and anywhere, I didn’t like poetry. I found them boring and unrelatable. Then, about 3-4 years back, while writing a blog post, instead of an essay, I found myself writing a poem. And from that day, I was hooked. I started reading poetry and understanding it and found the beauty in this writing form.

A timeless art of spinning words, poetry has captivated hearts and minds for centuries. It possesses a unique ability to express emotions that often elude ordinary language. The beauty of poetry lies in its capacity to unravel the deepest human sentiments and convey them in ways that prose cannot. Poetry transcends the boundaries of logic and embraces the realm of imagination, allowing one to explore the intricacies of the human experience. The poetic realm is beautiful weaving intricate tapestries of imagery, rhythm, and meaning.

Human emotions are vast and varied, often defying precise definitions. In such cases, poetry becomes a vessel through which the depths of these emotions can be explored and expressed. It has the power to encapsulate the most complex of feelings, such as love, grief, and longing, and present them in a manner that resonates deeply with both the poet and the reader. Through carefully chosen metaphors, vivid imagery, and rhythmic patterns, poetry unveils the intangible, painting emotions in vibrant hues that speak to the heart. It offers solace to those who struggle to articulate their innermost thoughts and provides a sanctuary where emotions can find sanctuary.

Unlike conventional language, which operates within the boundaries of literal meaning, poetry stretches those boundaries, allowing for ambiguity and multiplicity of interpretation. It enables one to tap into the richness of emotions and transcend the limitations of everyday communication. Poetry provides a refuge for the unspoken, the whispers of the soul that cannot be captured by mere words. It offers a sanctuary where paradoxes and contradictions can coexist, where the unsayable can find expression, and where the profound can be glimpsed through the veil of artistry. In this way, poetry acts as a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, the known and the unknowable.

Poetry also showcases the sheer beauty of words, highlighting their rhythmic cadence, melodic qualities, and evocative power. Poets meticulously select words to create a symphony of sounds and sensations, infusing their verses with a musical quality that resonates deep within us. The harmony of a well-crafted poem brings language to life, transforming mere words into instruments of enchantment. Through rhyme, meter, and the delicate interplay of syllables, poetry can transport one to ethereal realms, where words shimmer like stars in the night sky.

Poetry embellishes the essence of words with vivid imagery, painting pictures in the minds of the reader. It employs sensory details to evoke emotions and transport the reader to different times and places. A skilled poet can transform the mundane into the extraordinary, turning everyday objects and experiences into profound metaphors. With a stroke of a pen, a simple rose becomes a symbol of love and beauty, and a rainstorm becomes a metaphor for emotional turmoil. Poetry invites one to see the world through the poet’s eyes, where every word is meticulously chosen to create a vivid tapestry of emotions, colours, and sensations.

Poetry embraces the power of brevity, distilling complex ideas into concise and impactful phrases. A single line or a carefully crafted metaphor can hold within it a world of meaning, encouraging the reader to pause, reflect, and uncover hidden truths. It encourages the reader to embrace the economy of language, stripping away unnecessary words and leaving behind the essence of the message. In this way, poetry showcases the power of words, emphasising that it is not the quantity but the quality of expression that truly matters

An extraordinary art form, poetry enables the reader to express emotions that elude conventional language. It provides a sanctuary for the inexpressible, a canvas upon which the reader can paint the colours of their souls. Through carefully chosen words, poetic devices, and vivid imagery, it captivates the senses and reveals the depth and complexity of the human experience. The beauty of poetry lies in its ability to transcend the ordinary, to evoke emotions that cannot be contained within the confines of prose. It beckons one to explore the vast tapestry of human emotions and invites them to see the world through the eyes of a poet.

So take some time today to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of poetry, where words dance on the page and emotions find their voice.
