Before I was a Mom

This is also from my previous blog and here I write it’s from a yahoo group I used to be part of (no longer as I don’t have the time). Update: I found a link here and the link has some more updates on the original author

Before I was a MOM

Before I was a Mom
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late
I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom,
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn’t worry whether or not my
plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been pooped on,
Spit up on,
Chewed on,
Peed on,
Or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom,
I had complete control of myself;
My thoughts,
My body,
And my mind.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so that doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t
want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew something so small could affect my
life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn’t know the feeling of having my
heart outside my body.
I didn’t know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a
Mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small
could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of
the night every ten minutes to make
sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
The joy,
The love,
The heartache,
The wonderfulment,
Or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so
much before I was a Mom.

And for anyone who’s not yet heard the mom song, here it is:

Farmville

Now that I wrote about Facebook, can games on it be far behind?

When I first got on Facebook, I was not interested in any of the games there. Then after I started getting heaps of invites to games, I started with playing Farmville. This game was the first one I played and am still playing. I also played other such games, but lost interest in it soon.

Farmville, for those who probably live under a rock is a real-time simulation game by Zynga where you manage a virtual farm by plowing, seeding and harvesting crops, animals and trees. This is a very popular game with over 77 million people playing the game across the world every month!

I’m hooked to the game like I said before and although I play it everyday, am I addicted? Well I don’t know, but hope not!!

So what sign are you now??

There’s a new sun sign in town and it’s name is Ophiuchus…

This article in MSNBC, says that over the last 2000 years since the time astrology came into being, the stars and their position relative to the sun on a particular day and time have shifted and now the traditional horoscope signs are off by almost a month! Also apparently the ancient Babylonians discarded the formation Opiuchus, because they wanted 12 star signs and not 13!

Also one 2006 study published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences used data from more than 15,000 people and found that there was no relationship between your date of birth and the personality you have. Actually I have proof of this at home – D&P are born 2 minutes apart, so according to astrology, this means that they should have very similiar, if not identical personalities, but they are so dissimilar!

Well according to astronomers, here are the new dates for the various sunsigns:

  • Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
  • Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
  • Pisces: March 11-April 18.
  • Aries: April 18-May 13.
  • Taurus: May 13-June 21.
  • Gemini: June 21-July 20.
  • Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
  • Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
  • Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
  • Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
  • Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
  • Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
  • Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

This means that I move from Virgo to Leo, D&P remain Virgo and S moves from Capricorn to Sagittarius.

Here’s a confession – I believe in all this astrology and read it online quite regularly. My take on this is that this is an emotional crutch for us – we want to know if things are going to get better for us and quite frankly, I turn to astrology mostly when I am unhappy with what is happening in my life. After all, who doesn’t want to know that tomorrow is going to be a better day!

A question to you – Are you in the sign you thought you were in or have you moved up/down? Also do you use believe in astrology and use it as a crutch or are you a non-believer? Drop in with your comments, I’d love to hear them….

This and That….

I was actually wondering what to write today. I had a very troubled sleep last night and probably got ound 3 hours of sleep. So the result was that I was very sleepy the whole day and today there was no chance of sleeping in the morning as after my parent volunteer duties in D and P’s school, we had a breakfast chitchat with the school prinipal and vice-principal. There was also a yellow chempaka tree which the parent support group (PSG) gave the school to commenmorte its official opeing last month. I’ll write more about this in another post.

So after the chitchat, I went sraight to work and was sleepy throughout the day. The chldren have thir hindi term 3 common test on Saturday and I just didn’t have the energy to teach moe than 2 pages.

Now I’m beat and am off to beddy bye….See you tomorrow, hopefully with more energy and something new to write.

TGIF….

It’s Friday and the weekend’s almost upon us! Fridays are the start of the cherished weekend and is so full of promise. We intend to do a lot over the weekend – be it some long awaited trip, some cleaning that you’ve probably put off during the week or something else that you want to do during the weekend. This promise is carried over to Saturday when you do feel a tad guilty that you’ve probably not finished all that you wanted to and set out to do over the weekend, but then you console yourself that there’s still Sunday. Suddenly it’s Sunday afternoon and the guilt returns with full force and knowing that you just can’t do all that you intended to do this weekend, you promise yourself that next weekend, you will definitely do it! That my friends is the story of about 80% of my weekends! Have a good weekend and do remember to complete all the tasks that you’ve set for yourselves. On Monday I’ll report on what I did and what I did not do. Maybe this blog will help me stop procrastinating all the time.
