2015 Week 25 Update

A very boring week, of which the only good thing I can say about it was it finally got over! Have you had times when time seems to be frozen and it moves like slush? Well that was exactly my week. For some reason, I didn’t have much to do and when I am bored, time moves slowly!

I’ve decided to start a personal 21 Day Challenge. My challenge is not to eat between meals. So far, this week has been good, I am quite proud of myself over the weekend also…Why 21 Days? That’s because it’s said you need 21 days to change anything or to make it a habit. So this is one of the first steps to a more healthier me I suppose. I am on Day 5 today, so still got another 2 weeks plus to get through. I’ll do a proper post once I am done. But I am putting it here so that I become liable to myself (trying to trick my brain I guess)

When I finish this, I am going to start a new one. You can also challenge yourself to change one habit of yours by doing your version of the 21 Day Challenge. I’d love to hear your updates in the comments..

2015 Week 24 Update

My big news last week was the interview with my boss for the role I was interested in. Although, according to him, I was one of the more impressive interviewees, I highly doubt I will get the job as I don’t have the right number of years of experience. I’ll probably need a couple of months to get to speed, while he needs someone to jump right in and fight fires! But we did start a conversation going on my ambitions and I am determined to take this conversation further when he is back in office next!

Other than that, the highlight of the week was the Minion movie! It was so cute and I think I enjoyed it more than BB & GG! We also went for a Father’s Day dinner with S and his mum and aunt and that ended the week for us…

Now let’s see what the new week brings!

2015 Week 23 Update

A pretty boring week, both at home and at work.

The Sabah tragedy really affected me and I spent the week crying whenever I read anything related to it. The fact that those children were the same age as GG & BB brought it that much closer to home. I hugged both BB & GG close to me this week and was sad for the parents of the children who passed away!

We say “Dil Dhadakne Do” yesterday and it did meet expectations. I’ll probably do a review on the movie later this week.

I really need to do something in life which I can post here. I am sure noone wants to read a home-office-home-children post week after week….

Need to get my A game today. I’ll post if all goes according to what I want. Just keep me in your prayers today…

Have a fab week everyone…

2015 Week 22 Update

After my rant on Friday, I felt much better, but only for a while.

The whole weekend was taken up by the news of the children trapped in the earthquake in Kota Kinabalu. These are Primary 6 children, the same age as BB & GG, who were there for an Overseas Learning Journey with classmates and teachers.

When news started filtering down that almost 10 students and teachers did not make it, it really broke my heart! I think this incident has hit me hardest as the children are the same age as GG & BB and my heart goes out to all the parents there who have to live with seeing their children go before them. As I type this, my eyes are overflowing and I am typing without really seeing the words on the screen. I wonder when they see their children’s books and clothes how they will feel – will they curse themselves for signing the consent form? Also who knew there would be an earthquake in Malaysia – the place thousands of school children from Singapore – both primary and secondary go for learning journeys every year. BB & GG went to a neighboring state – Sarawak – last year for a learning journey, though it was not as intense as climbing a mountain and I guess this is also why it’s hit me so hard!

I also read that the day before the earthquake, some tourists were found naked and being disrespectful in the mountain, which is considered sacred by the native people. They say this is the mountain’s way of showing her displeasure. I now wonder, will these tourists feel a sense of shame and self-guilt as to the being the cause of the quake which killed so many children?

To all those children who were stuck down before they even had a chance to live their lives, may your souls rest in peace!

It’s a very somber post today and this is all I wish to write. Maybe more later…Have a great week everyone…

2015 Week 21 Update

We’re at the half-way point of 2015 today. Gosh is it me or is the year running! GG nixed our movie plans yesterday and we ended up just spending lifthe evening at home.

The week was a pleasant one with none of my colleagues in most of the week, including my boss.

There are times I really don’t know what to write for my weekly update as I rarely go out, don’t have any close friends here in Singapore and my idea of a good time is to be curled up in bed with a good book in a cool place (I don’t do heat), a hot cup of coffee by my side and a plate of pakodas! I’m very boring right?

Today is a public holiday to celebrate Buddha’s day of enlightenment called Vesak Day in the region. I really don’t have any plans for the day except maybe some reorganisation in the house.

Here’s hoping you have a fab week….
