2016 Week 27 Update

We’re done with half of 2016! I can’t believe how fast this year is going. Also the first half of this year has not been very good to me, so here’s hoping the second half more than compensates for the bad first half.

This was a ho-hum week for me, with nothing of note. I’ve been sending out resumes almost everyday, but so far, there’s nothing, nada on the radar. The recruitment consultant I spoke about told me I made their cut and the company will now screen the resumes they sent to them to decide whom they want to meet. So far, there’s nothing yet, so not much hopes there too…

I was pretty much at home this week, with just a visit to the temple on Friday. My sister-in-law’s new baby is apparently sick a lot, so my mother-in-law had some prayers in the temple for him. We spent a couple of hours in the temple and then also did a food donation to the visitors there and then had lunch before coming back home…

That, my readers, was the highlight of my week! It’s so pathetic, even if I say so…

Oh, I need to update my reading challenge for the year. My original challenge at the beginning of the year was to read 125 books. Somewhere around the 100 mark, I moved the goalpost further to 150 books by December 31 and as of today, I’ve exceeded my original goal and have read…..drumroll…..126 books! Hopefully I will exceed the target of 150 books also soon….

With a public holiday this week, let’s see what it brings to me…

Wishing all muslims a very Happy Id….Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri (as they say in southeast Asia) and Id Mubarak as it’s said in India!!

2016 Week 26 Update

Another boring week this turned out to be….

I don’t even know why I bother updating weekly when my days segue into each other.

On the job front, I’ve been applying as usual, but nothing has come up yet. Well, not really, because for the first time, I got called by a consultant who called me for a chat for a job she had advertised and I had responded to. I do not have much hopes for that position as one of the key experiences the company needs, I don’t have. But I went thinking maybe they may have other opportunities available. So let’s see….

I also lost my atm card this week! We were going to watch Finding Dory and the train was supposed to come in 2 minutes. I also had to top up mine and BB’s fare cards and all this in the 2 minutes before the train arrives. After the top-ups, either I left the card in the machine or dropped it somewhere in the platform. I only realised it after the movie was over and I wanted to buy something from a store in the mall! Luckily I had some cash with me for the purchase. I quickly cancelled the card and over the weekend, went and got a new one done….

Happy Monday people and I hope this week is a great one for you all. As for me, please pray that the consultant comes back with some positive news for me…

2016 Week 25 Update

It’s been more than six weeks since I’ve been a SAHM and none of the positions I’ve applied to have bitten! I’m getting slightly scared now, especially when my bank balance is showing signs of stress!!

Hopefully something comes up sooner than later and I can start working again. I am starting to feel like a sloth, though I am having a good time at home, reading a lot and watching loads of Youtube videos!

S has also been sick over the weekend, though he was actually sick a good part of the week. But like the macho man he is, he completely denied that he was sick and it was only when he could not take it any longer, he went and saw a doctor. So most of the weekend, he spent in bed, coughing away. He’s not as bad as some men are portrayed, but he is definitely worse than a woman when it comes to  being sick…..I think men tend to over-magnify their sickness while women, who already do multiple shifts (work, home, etc), take a sickness as one of those things which need to endured and just carry on…

Any men reading this please take my words with a huge pinch of salt 🙂

Have great week folks with no Monday blues….

2016 Week 24 Weekly Update

A boring kind of a weekand a very hectic weekend was what this week was all about.

We got back from Yogya on Monday and somehow the rest of the week just sped by without me not accomplishing anything and being super unproductive.

On Saturday since S was at home, I decided to get some errands out of the way, which included buying BB his Hindi School uniform, which he had outgrown and also doing some other shopping which had been pending for a while now. BB now wears size 42 which is the size that S, a fully grown adult wears. His show size is larger than S’ also. He still had a few more years of growing up to do and I suspect he will be quite tall. As he stands now, he is a tad taller than me and slightly shorter than S.

I also made a booboo this weekend. For some reason I thought Fathers Day was yesterday (June 12) and we planned to have a dinner at a nice place then. I also got S a car camera that he had been eyeing for a while as a Fathers Day present from the kids. Then just before we left for the dinner, I realised that Fathers Day is actually next Sunday!! Anyway since we had made reservations, we went for the dinner and had an early celebration….

2016 Week 23 Update

I am posting this almost 10 hours behind schedule!

We’re back in Singapore now, though still so very tired. Yogya was great, loads to see and do, especially if you are a history and culture buff like me. I’ll do more detailed posts later in the week once I sort out the photos and get my post ideas sorted out.

The beginning of the week saw both BB & GG in school so I was pretty much alone planning for the trip, which, I felt had the most slipshod planning I have done…

I am also having some health issues, which I don’t want to share here, suffice to say they are of the female variety, but since this weekly post is a sort of a diary for me, I want to put this down for posterity’s sake…

Have a great week folks!!
