2019 Week 27 Update

Life is meandering on with nothing really happening. The most exciting thing that happened was GG’s news that she had been called for an audition to a JC for DSA.

I have been quite productive this week, managing to hit all the items off my to-do list by the end of the week, which is quite rare for me. Hopefully, this is something I can do on a regular basis.

I had a bit of a low time in June when I was super unproductive and also didn’t really take care of my diet and exercise, but July has become a restart for me and this time I am more focussed on eating clean and walking at least 12-15k steps during the weekday and 10k steps over the weekend.

I am also at peace internally. I have decided to give my freelance business more thought and am becoming extremely picky when it comes to applying for jobs and positions. If it is meant to happen, it will happen, is my new mantra.

That’s all for this week, I have my eye review later today and I am hoping the doctor gives me the all clear this time around. I don’t want to go back for another review for atleast 3-4 months.

Have a wonderful week folks!

2019 Week 26 Update

We now officially halfway down the year! There are times I feel the first half of 2019 has zoomed by while at other times, I can’t wait for the year to end.

School starts today and hopefully, so shall my productivity. I find myself quite unproductive when the children are at home and now need to recalibrate my thinking since they finish school this year.

I have quite a few things on my to-do list this week and hope to accomplish all of them. I am also planning our year end holiday and am really excited. I love planning for holidays and this time is no different.

Ok, gotta go and start work on that to-do list now, so have a wonderful week folks!

2019 Week 25 Update

Another week and we are almost halfway through the year.

Early last week, we made a trip to get our Vehicle Entry Permit done. Though it has been in force for a while now, but will be strictly implemented come October for vehicles entering Johor from Singapore.

You need to apply online and once you get the confirmation email, you can book an appointment to fix the VEP tag. You also need to download the Touch n Go mobile wallet app and link it to your Touch n Go card. We booked one location and a day before the appointment, we got an email saying that due to unforeseen circumstances, that location had been closed for the foreseeable future. Luckily I was able to book another location immediately for the next day and it was available.

Once you get there, you drop your documents (which are in the email sent to you) and then wait for your car license plate number to be called. Then you are given a token number and you wait for your token number to be called. At the first counter where your token number is called, they check documents and you can also photocopy any document you forgot to do at a cost of RM 2 per document. Then it’s waiting again for the next counter to call you where they take RM 10 as payment for the VEP.

Then you wait for your car license plate to be called and they fix the tag and check if it works. That’s it! It took us around 45 mins from the time we reached the place till we left. We were around 25 minutes early and they only start at the appointed time. So all in all, it took us around 15-20 minutes.

The rest of the week was very unproductive to me, I am realising that when the children are home, I tend not to do much. Now I am waiting for school to start so I can start on my To- Do list.

Have a lovely week folks!

2019 Week 24 Update

Another week and we are almost halfway through the year!

I think, after more than a year, I have finally made peace with freelancing. I have decided that this is probably what I want to do and have started the process of reaching out to people to get more clients.

My take is that given that I hate the politics that happens in most offices, working for myself takes me away from that environment is a definite plus. Also the fact that there’s commute to work and the need not to wiork with people I may not get along with. I can also blast music or videos as I work and work on something else concurrently without being judged negatively.

I also went for my next eye review earlier in the week and though my eyes look all right, the right eye is still not 100% allright. The left eye is, according to the doctor, quite pristine. I am down from six eye drops to four eye drops, which is really a huge relief to me. I have the next review after a month and my hope at that review is that both my eyes are ‘pristine’

It was Fathers Day yesterday and so we decided to take S to the newly opened Jewel at Changi. It was a fun trip in the midst of studying and we really enjoyed it a lot. I will post pictures of the place soon.

Have a wonderful week folks!

2019 Week 23 Update

I felt that this week just flew by, without really doing much.

My eyes are really much better and the redness is all but gone. I don’t even have any more bluriness in my eyes and the sensitivity to light is also gone. I have another appointment with the doctor later today, which I hope is the last one.

Something happened to me earlier this week which sort of reinforced my belief that humanity is still alive. I had an event in the middle of the week and then had to go to the hospital pharmacy to pick up a medicine that was out of stock when I last went there. Since I had some heavy things in my hand, I decided to take a taxi. After getting down and queueing up to get the medicine, I realised to my horror, that I didn’t have my phone with me. I was sure I didn’t drop it while walking from where I got off to the pharmacy and quickly went to the information counter to see if there was a phone I could use. There was none there, but the nice lady there offered to call the taxi company (I had taken a receipt which was a good thing as we could identify the driver). Between the lady and the taxi company, they were able to get in touch with the driver who offered to drive back to the hospital with the phone as long as I paid the fare. I agreed immediately and used the same driver to get home too. The time between when we called the taxi company and they confirmed that the phone was still in the car was pure torture! I was wondering how I will manage without a phone and what shall I tell everyone at home. We spend so much time on our phones, it’s only when we lose it, we realise how important it is for us.

Next week should be another boring week with me trying to be on top of things on the home and work front.

Have a wonderful week folks!
