2018 Week 23 Update

I’m typing this sitting down for breakfast in my our hotel room in Melaka. We check out and drive back to Singapore in a few hours more and this holiday is about to come to an end.

We had a good time here in Melaka and I will do a proper post once I am back home. We’ve done Jonker Street which was very crowded and some shopping which was very nice given the difference in the currency of both countries and also got some nice family time.

During the drive into Melaka, we spent around two hours traversing a couple of kilometres between the Singapore and Malaysia checkpoints. At that point, it seemed to me that a significant portion of Singapore’s car population was there in the queue with us.

Anyway, got to go now, but here’s wishing you all a wonderful week.

2018 Week 22 Update

Welcome, June! We’re reaching the halfway mark in 2018 and I’m super conflicted about this year. On one hand, time seems to be moving slowly with each day similar to the other, but on the other hand, it also seems to be moving at warp speed with the months just flying past.

This week was pretty much similar to the others and so there’s nothing really to add.

I’ve been noticing something about my hair recently, so thought to share. Maybe someone who reads this has gone through this before and shed light on why this is happening. All my life, I’ve had poker straight hair. I used to have a boring hairstyle all the time because anything I do, within a couple of hours, it would go back to being poker straight. I never really resented this (except when there was a trend of having bangs in my school and I could never cut my hair like that) and actually loved my straight hair. A couple of months back, I realised that the middle of my hair started to become wavy. I initially thought it was because I usually bun my hair when I am at home and started bunning it less. But this waviness did not go away. I don’t know what to do, really miss my straight hair now. I read online that this could be due to hormonal changes, stress and also food, so I need to research more on what could be done.

Anyway, we’re off on our holiday later this month, so I am excited about this, especially since we will be doing a driving/road trip which we haven’t done in years!

Have a wonderful week folks!

2018 Week 21 Update

Another week is done and we’re almost at the end of May.

This was the last week of school and the children are now on their mid-term break. I have written all about their Parent Teacher meeting yesterday.

Yesterday evening, we also decided to make an impromptu visit to the Ramadan market at Geylang, the place to go to during the fasting months! I had been there a couple of times, but this was aeons ago, even before GG & BB were born. The place had changed beyond recognition and was filled with hipster food and the crowds! Oh dear, it felt like pretty much a significant proportion of Singapore’s residents had the same idea as we did, which was to visit the market. We walked around for about an hour and then decided to go someplace for dinner as it was close to the evening call for prayers.

That was the highlight of my week. Hoping that this week is much better than the last week.

2018 Week 20 Update

This week was so mind-numbingly boring that nothing that I did this week comes to my mind.

This is the last week of school, so I am looking forward to spending some quality time with the children and then there’s our Malaysia road trip to look forward to next month.

The other thing I want the children to work on during the holidays is to work on the subjects, especially those they did not do well in the mid-year exams.

Then there’s the perennial cleaning of rooms and clothes which both (and to an extent me) have to do.

That’s pretty much our plans for the next month.

2018 Week 19 Update

This was a week of contrasts for me, with the first half slow as molasses and the second as fast and busy as the wind!

The end of the week also marked the end of the rituals for S’ uncle who passed away last week. The last two days were exceptionally busy and on one day we got to have lunch only at 4 pm!

On Saturday, I was also privileged to go down to Pulau Ubin to have a look at the facilities which our children will be using when they attend the Secondary 3 Adventure Camp. I will do a more detailed post, especially from a parents perspective later this week so it can be of help to any parent whose child will be going to the camp.

Sunday was Mothers Day and we also  picked up our new car yesterday. This is an upgrade from our older sedan to a bigger seven seater MPV. This is because while the children are growing up, parents are growing older and we found that we were not able to accomodate everyone in the same vehicle in case we wanted to go out together. Hence the upgrade. I also caught a Bollywood movie with the children (review to come soon) and it ended with a nice family dinner at our local.

Hope you have a great Mothers Day and have a wonderful week ahead!
