2024 Week 10 Update

The iconic American actress, and multiple award winner, Meryl Streep, is the author of today’s quote. Beyond her remarkable acting career, Streep is also known for her advocacy on issues such as gender equality and environmental conservation, using her platform to effect positive change in the world. Streep suggests that prioritising the opinions of others over one’s own values and beliefs can lead to a loss of individual identity and authenticity. The quote encourages individuals to embrace their unique qualities and stay true to themselves, regardless of societal pressures or judgments. Streep’s words imply that true fulfilment and self-discovery come from staying grounded in one’s truth and living in alignment with personal values and convictions.

Yesterday, BB officially graduated from Basic Military Training and is now enjoying a well-deserved break. He will know later this week where he will be deployed to and I hope the unit he is assigned to is someplace where he enjoys doing his job and learns skills that are transferrable in the real world.

GG is busy with school, as usual, no change there. And for me, work has been so busy these days that I don’t have time to write. I need to figure out where and how I can make time to write so my blog does not suffer too much.

And on that note, let me go and do some writing. Have a great and positive week ahead everyone!

2024 Week 09 Update

An Irish modernist writer known for his innovative and experimental writing style, James Joyce’s quote emphasises the reciprocal nature of the mind’s workings. Joyce suggests that the mind functions akin to a mirror, reflecting the content and quality of the thoughts, ideas, and experiences that one feeds into it. The quote underscores the principle that the quality of one’s mental output, such as creativity, understanding, and perception, is directly influenced by the quality of the mental input, including education, experiences, and reflections. Joyce’s words imply that individuals bear responsibility for what they expose their minds to, highlighting the importance of cultivating a nourishing mental environment through reading, learning, and introspection.

This week has been crazy at work and I am so glad for today. It’ll be a mini break for me before the new work week starts again. I am so busy working on my laptop that my shoulders are perpetually achy and I have to keep getting GG to give me shoulder massages.

BB will finally finish his BMT next week and hopefully, he gets posted into a vocation that he enjoys for the next year and a half. We will know only the week after, so please send him positive energy. GG is, as usual, busy with school and projects and is constantly worried about grades.

And that’s all from me this week. Stay safe and positive and keep smiling!

2024 Week 08 Update

Today’s quote is from American physicist and astronaut, Ronald McNair, who made significant contributions to science and space exploration. In today’s quote, McNair encapsulates the essence of aspiration, action, and achievement. The quote underscores the significance of having dreams or aspirations in life. Dreams serve as the foundation for setting goals, envisioning possibilities, and pursuing personal growth and fulfilment. McNair’s quote implies that dreams are not merely idle wishes but essential prerequisites for turning aspirations into reality. Before one can embark on the journey of making a dream come true, one must first conceive of it and believe in its possibility. Dreams serve as powerful motivators, inspiring individuals to take action, overcome obstacles, and persevere in the face of challenges. They provide direction and purpose, fueling the drive to pursue one’s passions and aspirations. The quote suggests that dreams are expressions of human potential and imagination. They represent the limitless possibilities that individuals can envision for themselves and the world around them. In essence, Ronald McNair’s quote encourages individuals to cultivate and cherish their dreams, recognising them as the starting point for personal and professional achievements. It emphasises the transformative power of aspiration and the importance of nurturing a vision for the future.

Work has been pretty hectic this week and it will continue next week too. BB is almost at the end of his Basic Military Training and we will go and see his Passing Out Parade in the next few weeks. Then he gets a week off, during which time, he will know which unit he has been posted to. I am crossing my fingers to hope he gets a unit and vocation he enjoys and can learn something useful in the next 1.5 years. GG is busy with school as usual.

I’ve been pissed because I lost data from two external drives. A lot of blog posts I was working on were on one of the external drives and that made me both mad and sad. A lot of hard work has gone down the drain and now I have to recreate a couple of weeks’ worth of writing and this will push me back in my writing. So I am pissed!

That’s all from my side this week. Stay positive, I am trying too…

2024 Week 07 Update

Today’s quote by British writer and intellectual, Aldous Huxley emphasises the importance of personal growth and self-improvement. The quote underscores the idea that the most reliable and impactful changes one can make are within oneself. It encourages individuals to prioritise their own personal development and well-being. While the universe may seem vast and beyond our control, the quote suggests that we have the power to effect meaningful change within our own lives through self-awareness, learning, and growth. By focusing on self-improvement, individuals can cultivate a sense of empowerment and agency over their lives. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by external circumstances, they can channel their energy into areas where they have the greatest influence. The quote implies that self-improvement is an ongoing process rather than a destination. It encourages individuals to embrace a mindset of growth and development, continually striving to become the best version of themselves. In essence, Huxley’s quote serves as a reminder of the transformative potential inherent in each individual. It inspires self-reflection, introspection, and a commitment to personal evolution as a means of positively impacting both oneself and the world around us.

I’ve been quite busy this week and before I knew it, it was Sunday and time for a new week. But life of good and I have already started thinking about my next holiday. I am hoping to go and visit my parents again by the end of the year. But that’s still months down the year. Work is still going on well and it’s nice to do something worthwhile.

BB is almost done with his basic military training and should graduate soon and then will be posted to his unit. GG is busy with school and has no time for anything or anyone anymore!

Stay safe, stay positive, my friends, and I will see you soon!

2024 Week 06 Update

Today’s quote is attributed to English poet and botanist Libby Houston. Her quote suggests that when one’s dreams or aspirations become weary or dormant, they may retreat from the forefront of consciousness. The quote portrays dreams as dynamic entities that can become fatigued or lose momentum over time. Like living beings, dreams can experience periods of vitality and dormancy. The quote symbolises the idea of dreams receding from conscious awareness, perhaps into the subconscious or a hidden realm within the mind. It implies a state of latency or hibernation and suggests a protective mechanism. It implies that dreams may retreat from the forefront of consciousness to preserve themselves, avoiding potential disappointment or disillusionment. Despite their temporary retreat, the quote doesn’t imply that dreams vanish entirely. Instead, they remain latent, awaiting the right conditions or renewed inspiration to resurface and thrive once again. In essence, Libby Houston’s quote acknowledges the ebb and flow of dreams, suggesting that periods of dormancy or retreat can be natural and even beneficial. It encourages patience and trust in the cyclical nature of inspiration, suggesting that dreams may reemerge when the time is right, revitalised and ready to be pursued once more.

Even though it has been one week since we returned from India, I am still tired, but hopefully, this will pass soon and I will be back to normal. Our new office is ready and we will be starting work there physically next week. It’ll be exciting, though I am going to miss working from home on a full-time basis.

BB has been home on a long break for the Lunar New Year festivities and we are happy to have him here. For those celebrating, here’s wishing you a very happy lunar new year and may the year of the wooden dragon bring you and your loved ones abundance, prosperity, and good fortune. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

And on that note, let’s have a positive and wonderful week ahead!
