2017 Week 12 Weekly Update

Literally nothing happened this week! After the excitement of last week where I was contacted by recruiters, it was all very quiet this week. I had actually thought that I will be seeing some interviews this week and was mentally preparing for them, but zilch!

I also saw an eye specialist this week for my suspected glaucoma. I had a few tests but the doctor could not confirm or reject it. One test was not done properly according to the doctor so I have to redo it. There’s a slight thinning in the optic nerves of my left eye and so I am put on a watch list for now. I have to go back next week to redo that one test plus see the doctor so that they can establish baselines for me.

So that was my week! Here’s hoping this week will have better news for me. Have a wonderful week folks!

2017 Week 11 Update

This was quite an interesting week for me. The week started as usual and since the children were at home because of their term break, it was controlled chaos at it’s best!

Mid-week, I got a couple of calls from recruiters for positions they had advertised online. In one case, I had to go and see their client with just about 2 hours notice! I also got a message through LinkedIn from someone in HR from a big multinational company for quite a senior position. Initially, I thought this was an elaborate prank, though why would someone prank me like this, I wondered. I did respond to that person and have sent them my resume, though I do not hold any hope there!

I also met up with a career coach and they critiqued my resume which made it better. The coach will also work with me for the next few months so hopefully, all these efforts will make a difference and soon.

GG and I went to see Beauty and the Beast yesterday and it was fun doing a mum and daughter time. BB was not really interested, so he stayed home with S. We really enjoyed the movie and since both like Emma Watson, it was a fun day.

This was my week, hope next week is better than this one! Have a wonderful week folks!

2017 Week 10 Update

Nothing really to update this week. It was the usual week and I can’t think of anything that really stood out for me.

I’ve been eating well as well as walking a lot, as much as 2 hours daily, over the day and consistently blowing my daily step targets out of the water! I hope this translates soon into not only some serious weight loss but also a significant improvement in my HbA1C numbers. We will know that only over time!

A cousin of mine announced her third pregnancy on our Whatsapp group and this was a surprise to all of us. She said it was not planned, but all of them are happy with this news. The kids, of course, are ecstatic and the moment I mentioned it to BB & GG, each said they hoped it was the same sex as them as they wanted to play with the new baby! I’m glad for her and her husband!

That’s all from my side now. This week is a school term break week so the kids will be home most days, let’s see if I can do some stuff with them. There’s a museum I want to explore with them, so I am hoping we can go there sometime this week.

Have a great week!

2017 Week 9 Update

Another week and we’re already in March! Just where have the months flown by?

This was a usual sort of week for me, with nothing of note actually happening. The only thing I did was up the ante when it comes to exercising and walking. I am making it a point to walk at least 10,000 steps every day. This I do by walking on the treadmill in the mornings, then walking in the house for 5-10 minutes every 2-3 hours I sit and then another short walk in the neighbourhood in the evening. So far, it’s worked well and most days I exceed the 10,000 target steps.

Hopefully this week is much better than the last week. Have a wonderful week folks!

2017 Week 8 Weekly Update

They say when it rains, it pours! As if the stress of looking for a job is not enough, I also have additional health issues to deal with. A couple of weeks back, I did an eye and foot check-up as part of a primary care package. When the reports came out, they want me to go for additional tests as the results from one eye is slightly out of whack for one disease. According to my doctor, it could be nothing, but it could also be something. I went to get a referral to the hospital’s ophthalmic department and it has been fixed for next month.

S’ mum also was sick this week, so since neither S nor his sister could manage to take her to the doctor, I did it. This meant I was out of the house almost all the days of the week, which also brought my daily steps up significantly. I still haven’t touched the 10,000 I planned for any day yet, but baby steps!

I took the children out yesterday since we’ve not been out in ages. The original plan was to see a Bollywood film, but the movie I wanted to see was rated NC16 here. This means that only those who are 16 and older can see the film and they check IDs before you enter the theatre. So that plan dropped and then we decided to go to a regional library since we hadn’t been to a library since November when our local library was closed for renovation and followed that up with a spot of shopping. Retail therapy is great – haven’t shopped in ages and it felt so good…

Have a great week people!
