Goodbye and Hello

No, I am not leaving WP yet! Goodbye 2018 and hello 2019

It’s a bit later than I would have liked, but no time like the present to do this post. I for one believe that at least for the first two weeks of January, you are still finetuning what you want to do in the new year and so on that note, I am not late at all!

I ended 2018 the same way as I started it, with hope that the coming year will be better for all of us. 2018 was not a very good year for us, what with the children not really doing well in Sec 3 (which is considered a harder year than Sec 4) nor with me continuing being mostly a SAHM. I did get some relief in the form of some freelance work which I have been doing for the past few months, so I am grateful for the that.

2019 is a crucial year for us as both GG & BB will be sitting for their O level exams at the end of the year. This will then mark the end of their school years and once the results are out, will start their tertiary studies. What that will be, I don’t know at this point. They both have ideas, but these will be translated into reality only when the results come out. So my nagging mode is super on these days, so much so that BB just sighs in frustration all the time. But it is for his own good and he knows that, so he just grins and bears it!

This year, I decided not to make any resolutions which I will inevitably break a month or so later. Instead, I decided to use a couple of words to guide me this year and not stress out when I slip up. My words this year will be ‘Simplicity’ and ‘Productivity’. These words will guide me to lead a more simple but productive life this year. The words will also help adjust my goals and resolutions as the year goes by.

I also decided that I will try and change habits instead of trying to fulfil resolutions. I am currently trying to track 10 habits across different areas in my life. I hope I can do them every single day, but if I slip up some days, I am still ok with it. I will come back at the end of the year or the beginning of 2020 to say how I fared with changing habits.

So that’s my plan of action for 2019. I am hoping for a more simple, minimalistic and productive year for me and you!

What have you thought about and planned for 2019? I would love to hear from you!

2018 Week 52 Update

The last week of 2018 and the last few days before school starts on 2 Jan!

The holidays just flew by without us really accomplishing what we wanted to do. As for 2018, I have mixed feelings about this year. I am ending 2018 the same way I started it – with hope. I will do another post once I have more time to myself about the year that went by.

The children will start school on Wednesday and though GG has still not gotten her timetable, she says she will have a long first day because of CCA. The fact that this is the SYF (Singapore Youth Festival) competition year means they don’t have time to waste. The competition will happen some time in April and once that is done, she has completed her CCA obligations. Because of her CCA Leadership role, she has also been awarded an award which she will get sometime in early January.

BB’s first week timetable is out and though it’s not as tight as I thought it will be, it’s not light either. His school has no studies on day 1 and they have been asked not to bring text books on that day. He also ends earlier than GG.

That’s it from me for this week and year. See you on the other side of the new year!

Happy 2019 and may the new year bring you what you have always hoped for.

2018 Week 51 Update

The year is almost over and 2019 is knocking upon our door.

This week was fairly mundane with life being very quiet. I went to help out in BB’s school as a parent volunteer to help out with the incoming Sec 1 student registrations. This is something I enjoy doing each year and when I see those whom I met during the open house I really like it that they got posted to the school.

It’s Christmas this week and it should be another (our last) quiet week before schools starts on the 2nd and we get sucked into the madness that is Sec 4 and the O levels.

To those celebrating Christmas, merry Christmas and may the holidays bring joy and happiness to you and your loved ones.

2018 Week 50 Update

This was a very hectic week for us, so much so that at one point, all we wanted to do was just laze around at home!

Since S was on leave, we decided to head to Johor Bahru in Malaysia for a day trip. We went to a couple of Malls and also checked out the huge IKEA there. We also got summoned for a parking offence and rushed to pay it off before we left the place as we didn’t want any issues the next time we drove in.

Then the next few days was spent in Singapore with some grocery shopping, going to the national library and also having lunches and dinners outside.

S goes back to work tomorrow and we are also counting down to school starting on 2 January.

Have a wonderful Sunday and an awesome week!

2018 Week 49 Weekly Update

Another week has gone by and we are closer to 2019! Nothing really happened this week. The children are still having their holidays and even I am in a lazy mode with no real mood to do anything, except chill and read!

The coming week is going to be quite busy for us with some family time planned and so I should have better updates then.

We also decided not to go on a holiday, even to a neighbouring country as everything was super expensive. We almost booked the tickets and hotel last weekend, but at the last minute, I decided against it as it felt more like going some place just because we had to do it rather than because we wanted to do it!

I am going to stop this update here because, there’s really nothing much to say this week. Have a wonderful week folks!
