2018 Week 19 Update

This was a week of contrasts for me, with the first half slow as molasses and the second as fast and busy as the wind!

The end of the week also marked the end of the rituals for S’ uncle who passed away last week. The last two days were exceptionally busy and on one day we got to have lunch only at 4 pm!

On Saturday, I was also privileged to go down to Pulau Ubin to have a look at the facilities which our children will be using when they attend the Secondary 3 Adventure Camp. I will do a more detailed post, especially from a parents perspective later this week so it can be of help to any parent whose child will be going to the camp.

Sunday was Mothers Day and we also  picked up our new car yesterday. This is an upgrade from our older sedan to a bigger seven seater MPV. This is because while the children are growing up, parents are growing older and we found that we were not able to accomodate everyone in the same vehicle in case we wanted to go out together. Hence the upgrade. I also caught a Bollywood movie with the children (review to come soon) and it ended with a nice family dinner at our local.

Hope you have a great Mothers Day and have a wonderful week ahead!

2018 Week 18 Update

I think I went through this week in a haze. I can’t really think of anything that really happened this week and we’re on to a new week already.

The days these days just seem to move as slow as molasses, but at the same time, by the time the weekend comes by, I feel like I have accomplished nothing.

The whole week was busy with chasing the children, especially BB to study and not spend time on his phone all the time.

Exams finish this week and I have something lined up for the weekend (I will write more after it’s done, if ever) and Sunday is also Mother’s Day in our part of the world.

Have a wonderful week everyone…

2018 Week 17 Update

Yesterday morning, almost as soon as we woke up, we got news that S’ uncle who was hospitalised passed away in the hospital. This uncle had been sick for a while now and this latest attack of pneumonia and heart failure made him so weak and unresponsive that his body gave up the fight! It was chaotic, to say the least, and I am super exhausted with everything!

For a long time now, I had been suffering from a bout of a very localised eczema and it was so bad that I was literally spamming cream every 30 minutes to get some relief. I had been prescribed some steroid cream a couple of months back but didn’t want to continue to take them for long. Last week, my primary care physician whom I see for my diabetes management asked me to see another doctor in the same practice who is also a qualified dermatologist and who finally gave me some creams and antihistamines which made a huge difference to my condition. I can finally see the end of the tunnel…

Tomorrow is a public holiday here in Singapore on account of Labour Day and I for one, am looking forward to sleeping in. Today is also the last day of April and this marks two years of unemployment!

2018 Week 16 Update

Another week has gone by and we’re at the last week of April.

I have been in a bit of a funk this week and it’s taken me almost the whole week to come out of it. But I am fine now, hopefully, this feeling of wellness lasts longer this time around.

Othe than planning our June holidays, I’ve done nothing much this week. We’re planning a driving holiday to Malaysia.

Have a wonderful week folks!

2018 Week 15 Update

How was your last week?

I have been angry, outraged and ashamed last week. By now, the whole world has probably heard of the multiple rapes in India. I was actually ashamed to call myself an Indian this week. I don’t want to pen down the atrocities and the unspeakable horror the little girl underwent before she was killed, you just need to do a simple Google search to read all about it.

What’s worse is that the judiciary, who is supposed to uphold the law in the country is also in cahoots with the perpetrators and when the parents of that girl went to lodge a police report, they shrugged them off saying that she must have run off (eloped) with a boy! Can we take a minute to digest this? A police officer saying that an eight-year-old eloped with a boy! Do they even know what love is at this age? Does an eight-year-old know how to elope with a boy at that age? This seriously boggles the mind, doesn’t it!

The government of the day is busy fasting for some issue and the prime minister, who tweets birthday wishes to celebrities took more than a few days to issue a press release about this situation, especially since the perpetrators seem to be from his own political party.

At this point in time, I am so glad that I don’t live in India anymore and live in a country where women (and girls and children) can move around freely without the fear of violation. I also have a daughter and when I start to think of her in this situation, my blood literally runs cold!

I really hope and pray that justice is served to both the little girl and the other victims and there are strict laws put in place. Please do send a little prayer, irrespective of your race and religion, so that the little girl’s soul gets some peace in the afterlife.
