2018 Week 52 Update

The last week of 2018 and the last few days before school starts on 2 Jan!

The holidays just flew by without us really accomplishing what we wanted to do. As for 2018, I have mixed feelings about this year. I am ending 2018 the same way I started it – with hope. I will do another post once I have more time to myself about the year that went by.

The children will start school on Wednesday and though GG has still not gotten her timetable, she says she will have a long first day because of CCA. The fact that this is the SYF (Singapore Youth Festival) competition year means they don’t have time to waste. The competition will happen some time in April and once that is done, she has completed her CCA obligations. Because of her CCA Leadership role, she has also been awarded an award which she will get sometime in early January.

BB’s first week timetable is out and though it’s not as tight as I thought it will be, it’s not light either. His school has no studies on day 1 and they have been asked not to bring text books on that day. He also ends earlier than GG.

That’s it from me for this week and year. See you on the other side of the new year!

Happy 2019 and may the new year bring you what you have always hoped for.

2018 Week 50 Update

This was a very hectic week for us, so much so that at one point, all we wanted to do was just laze around at home!

Since S was on leave, we decided to head to Johor Bahru in Malaysia for a day trip. We went to a couple of Malls and also checked out the huge IKEA there. We also got summoned for a parking offence and rushed to pay it off before we left the place as we didn’t want any issues the next time we drove in.

Then the next few days was spent in Singapore with some grocery shopping, going to the national library and also having lunches and dinners outside.

S goes back to work tomorrow and we are also counting down to school starting on 2 January.

Have a wonderful Sunday and an awesome week!

2018 Week 49 Weekly Update

Another week has gone by and we are closer to 2019! Nothing really happened this week. The children are still having their holidays and even I am in a lazy mode with no real mood to do anything, except chill and read!

The coming week is going to be quite busy for us with some family time planned and so I should have better updates then.

We also decided not to go on a holiday, even to a neighbouring country as everything was super expensive. We almost booked the tickets and hotel last weekend, but at the last minute, I decided against it as it felt more like going some place just because we had to do it rather than because we wanted to do it!

I am going to stop this update here because, there’s really nothing much to say this week. Have a wonderful week folks!

2018 Week 47 Ipdate

Nothing really to update with regard to the children. Holidays are ongoing and I am on BB’s case to catch up on his sec 3 work before school starts and he gets overwhelmed again.

Yesterday, I volunteered in BB’s school to usher potential parents and children to choose this school as one of their options after the PSLE results which was declared earlier in the week. It’s always fun doing this and I enjoy speaking to potential parents and sharing my experiences in the school. BBs school, though a neighbourhood school, has a distinctive programme which is very tempting to some students (BB included) who make it their first choice of school.

I also had a fairly lazy week with not much happening. I’ve decided to focus on my freelance work more once the new year starts and have started to do research in that direction.

S is taking leave some days next week and I want us to do some activities as a family, especially since the children don’t get to spend much time with him, given his busy schedule. So I should start planning those too.

2018 is almost over and the new year will be here in the blink of an eye! What are your plans for the new year?

Have a wonderful Sunday and an awesome week!

2018 Secondary 3 Week 44 Update

This is the last update for Secondary 3 for the year. School has been out for more than a week now, but both GG & BB had to go back to school for a week for the Sec 4 head start programme. They had full day of lessons the whole week and teachers started on work for the next year. They have also been loaded with homework for the holidays in all subjects so that when they go back to school in January, they can continue from where they left off.

Since the year is short, school’s are expected to complete the O level syllabus by the time they break for their mid-year holidays in June.

Our O level countdown has also begun with the exams around 11 months away. I need to take some decisions about whether they need extra tuition for any subjects, especially the sciences.

Next week is Diwali and today promises to be slightly busier than usual. But here’s to a wonderful Sunday to everyone.
