2019 Secondary 4 Week 41 Update

After attending GG’s graduation ceremony last week, this week I attended BB’s graduation ceremony. Unfortunately S was unable to make it this time as he had some unmissable work commitments. Fortunately for me, I met a fellow parent whom I’ve known since BB started this school. Her son was is also from the same CCA as BB and who is the only other student who was offered a place in the same course that BB was offered a place in. So our children will be classmates in the future and it’s good that BB has a known face going into the new school.

BB’s graduation was very different from the one we saw in GG’s school last week. There were less speeches and all the sec 4 form made a short video which I thought was a nice gesture where they sort of danced and wished the class of 2019 all the best for their exams. They also sang the school song for the very last time (according to the emcees) and at the very end they got a special badge with the words “Class of 2019” and a graduation certificate. BB also got a badge at the begining of his journey in this school in secondary one and both badges were given by their form teachers, so this is something I really appreciate the school for.

We are down to around 2 weeks to go for the O levels and as I have mentioned before I am just counting down the days when the exams end as are the children.

Have a great Sunday!

2019 Week 40 Update

This week was both remarkable as well as unremarkable Unremarkable because it was the usual week from Monday to Friday with nothing really happening.

On Saturday, for the first time, I did something out of my comfort zone. I went for a citizen’s panel where, along with other Singaporeans we will debate about an issue which is close to my heart. We will also come up with a report and hopefully the government will implement some, if not most of the suggestions. We had to sign a non disclosure agreement, so I can’t say much here. But it was a very enjoyable, if intense session and I learnt quite a bit from the other participants who spanned various industries and came from different aspects of life.

Yesterday marked the start of Navratri and this week is slightly restful week for me, without much happening. Next week is another hectic week and then two weeks after we start the O level exams!

I for one, just want the exams to start, so we can count down to the four weeks it will run. After that, it’s time to holiday! Can’t wait!!

Have a wonderful week folks!

2019 Secondary 4 Week 40 Update

GG had her school graduation this week and it was an interesting experience. As the guest of honour, they had an alumni over, someone who had graduated more than 10 years back from the school. This person had an interesting career path, from being an average student in school with not so stellar grades he went on to becoming the valedictorian for his university cohort and has achieved quite a bit in Poly and University. I enjoyed listening to him and hoped the class of 2019 took back from his speech.

BB has his graduation this week and that is also something I am looking forward to.

We are around three weeks to the O levels now and at this point, all I want is for it to get over!

Have a great Sunday people!!

2019 Week 39 Update

This was a busy week for me, so much so that BB actually commented that I have been out three days this week, something that has very rarely happened in the past few years.

I went to yet another retuning mums session, for which I had some expectations before the event, but was quite disappointed after. There was a lot of talking, but no real concrete solutions given. My take was that they had to probably do something with regard to their diversity group and this was the solution they decided upon. Get in touch with some women who are looking to returning back to work and then speak with them. I did make some contacts with other women in the same situation as me, so that was a plus for that day.

I had also some work related events and meetings to attend which took up a few more days.

We are at less than a month to the O levels and I am in full nagging mode. I can’t wait till mid November when the exams finish. Also I think once the exams start, we will just move with the momentum and before we know it, it’ll be the end of the exams. I just tell BB & GG that they they should give the exams their 100%, so that they can enjoy their holidays without the stress of the results day.

It’s GG’s graduation day this week plus something else I am going to be involved in for which I am super excited about. I can’t share much about it now, but will soon. It’s something I am getting out of my comfort zone.

Have a wonderful week people.

2019 Secondary 4 Week 39 Update

School started for term 4 and GG also finally finished up her prelims. We are now counting down to less than a month to go to start of their written exams for the O level exams.

This week GG will also have her graduation ceremony and BB’s happens next week. Then next week is GG’s Science practicals while BB’s practicals will take place the week after next. After that it’s full steam ahead to the exams.

I am just looking forward to the end of the exams. I am so stressed with the exams even though both have gotten a place to study for a course for the next year. But still I want them to do well.

That is pretty much our week. Actually all our days are like this and will remain the same till the end of the exams!

Have a great Sunday!
