2019 Week 8 Update

This week has been a very meh week for me. I didn’t do much, yet the week ended very fast!

I hope that I have come out of my February slump as I have taken to calling it and this week is much better in terms of what I am able to accomplish.

There is nothing really that stands out this week, so this update is going to end here. Hoping that this week is better in terms of what I am able to do and complete.

Have a wonderfully productive week!

2019 Secondary 4 Week 8 Update

This is a normal week for both BB & GG. GG had some weighted assessments (one of which was very sudden for her as she had not seen the date for this exam) and so is currently busy studying. BB, on the other hand, has his common tests starting from Monday and is still blase about it as ever.

GG suffers from examination anxiety where she pretty much freezes and forgets all her learning during an important exam. This happened to her four years back during her PSLE exams and I very strongly believe that this was the cause of her lower than expected marks in the exam. She seemed ok during the first few years of secondary school and I was relieved that she had overcome this fear. But this year, with the O levels looming, I fear this anxiety is making a come back. I have been coaching her constantly and try to motivate her, and I hope this is working. This is going to be a year-long project for me, so wish me (and GG) loads of luck.

That’s all folks from the children this week. Happy Sunday everyone!

2019 Week 7 Update

This has been a funny sort of week for me. While I have been productive in some aspects of my life, I have completely ignored some other aspects.

I have been very lax in updating my habit and expenses tracker this month and I hope to get back on track this week. I really don’t know why this happened.

I guess I was in the funk that creeps up on me every now and then and this is what happens when that comes by. I pretty much lose interest in myself and then have to become conscious of what I am doing and come back to becoming a normal person.

Anyway, have loads to do this week and hopefully this week will be a stark contrast to the previous week.

Have a productive week folks!

2019 Secondary 4 Week 7 Update

There’s really nothing that stands out this week in terms of BB & GG in school.

Weighted assessments and common tests start soon and the children are beginning to feel the pinch of having national exams at the end of the year.

I had a talk with BB earlier in the week about his future plans. I had given him time till the end of the week to think it over and then we can discuss it further. I will be speaking with him later this week on this topic.

I always wonder how it is that two children, born at the same time, given the same education and opportunities are so different. GG is so ambitious, diligent, driven to succeed and motivated. BB, on the other hand, likes to take things easy and will work hard only when it is imperative to work and seems almost disinterested and unmotivated. I really am hoping that he ups his game soon so that he is able to do the course he wants to do.

Happy Sunday folks!

2019 Week 6 Update

It was a nice week because of the Chinese New Year holidays.

Monday was a half day for everyone and Tuesday and Wednesday were public holidays. We spent one of the days shopping for essentials and groceries and the other day was just spent lazing at home.

I actually had plans to clean some closets, but because I decided to be a sloth, I could not do anything!

I also had a follow-up at one of our public hospitals for my eyes. I had been having dryness in my eyes for a while and this looks to be a long time thing for me. I have to go for follow-up every six to eight months and hopefully, there’s a solution for me soon.

That was all my week people. Have a wonderful and productive week. I have many plans for this week, all them with regard to work and my writing and I am hoping I can complete at least 75% of my To-Do list.

See you next week!
