Poem: The Rainbow

World over things are getting slightly better, but we are still not out of the wood yet. There will be a new normal when things start going back to normal (or as normal as it can be) and the world we know would have changed completely. This panademic is a defining moment for all of us. Yet, in all this misery, we have seen moments of hope, resilience and how far the human spirit can go.

A rainbow has been seen for centuries as a symbol of hope, a promise from the greater power that things will get better

The Rainbow

When things seem to be at rock bottom,
When you feel broken and numb,

When nothing in life feels like it is going your way
When you feel bound, sad and gray

That is when you step outside to get some fresh air
To think, to feel and maybe say a little prayer

Then you look up and see the aftermath of the rain
The sun peeking out of the clouds and the you feel hope ignite within you again

You see the sky light up in a huge smile, you see a rainbow,
And you know that things will be fine, your face now has that glow

Follow that rainbow, follow your deepest wish,
You will get there one day, your life’s race will reach the line that says finish

The symbol of hope, of a new beginning
This rainbow is a sign that will make your heart sing!

Poem: Our Life Today

The situation with Covid-19 is a grim one in our world today. This poem came out when I started thinking about our world and how our new normal is completely different today as compared to just a few months back.

Our Life Today

The streets are empty, they are devoid of traffic
The stores are empty, there’s a sense of panic

People are hoarding goods and groceries
Toilet paper, canned goods, vegetables and cheese

Don’t be that person, purchase only what you need
Let there be enough supplies for everyone, don’t give in to greed

Stay home, stay safe, don’t get out unless absolutely necessary
Travel, friends and party, they will be there, please that’s a humble plea

Use technology to keep in touch, there are many options available
Use them to the fullest, be nimble and agile

In all this, don’t forget to thank our heros of today
Our healthcare, frontline, retail and delivery workers who are all in the fray

Playing a huge part in trying to contain and find a that Covid-19 cure
So life can go on as before without taking much of a detour

So here’s a round of applause to all of us, because you have also done your part
How you ask, well by staying home, maintaining social distance and staying apart

Poem: Life’s Choices

Life throws choices at us all the time. We make choices almost every second of our day and sometimes these choices backfire on us. What is it about life’s choices that make it so hard to second guess?

Life’s Choices

You arrive at a converging path, wondering which road to take
Life gives you choices always, it has always been yours to make
Choose wisely and you will be blessed,
But if you make the wrong choice, you can make life a living hell

But that is the way life operates, choices abound at every stage
You have but to choose your path, on stage and off stage
It has always been your choice, you can be what you wish
Chained to tradition or free to choose, a winner to the finish

Sometimes you do need to take the road less travelled
It may be hard, you may be baffled
But when success kisses your feet
All those troubles seem trivial and your success that much sweet

So dream the most audacious dream you are able to
Then choose to make that a reality, you can do it, yes you
Today will pass soon, tomorrow awaits you eagerly
Rejoice and enjoy your choices, because that’s how the dice rolls!

Poem: The Mirror and I

You look at it and what do you see?
You looking back at you, your reflelction for the world to see

What you see is what the world sees
Warts and faults, beauty and stories

Mirror, Mirror on the wall, tell me this, tell me quick
Am I really that what I show in public?

Is my outside the same as what I am in the inside?
Or am I living a double life, am I living a lie, with eyes open wide?

Tell me the truth, my mirror, tell me now
Show me what I truly am, let me inside me somehow

Let me take the first step in syncing my in and out
So my mirror reflects the real me, both in and out
My mirror is true to myself, inside and out

A New Year Poem

Out with the old and in with the new
It’s a new year, a new decade, the old year we bid adieu

It’s that time of the year when we make resolutions
Whether we keep them or not, well, those are our actions

With positive thoughts and actions, let us start
This year let it be love and optimism in our heart

The New Year is a chance to press the restart button
A new decade, a year, a new day and a new dawn
