Invisible Ghosts – Robyn Schneider

35230429

Rose Asher believes in ghosts. She should, since she has one for a best friend: Logan, her annoying, Netflix-addicted brother, who is forever stuck at fifteen. But Rose is growing up, and when an old friend moves back to Laguna Canyon and appears in her drama class, things get complicated.

Jamie Aldridge is charming, confident, and a painful reminder of the life Rose has been missing out on since her brother’s death. She watches as Jamie easily rejoins their former friends – a group of magnificently silly theatre nerds – while avoiding her so intensely that it must be deliberate.

Yet when the two of them unexpectedly cross paths, Rose learns that Jamie has a secret of his own, one that changes everything. Rose finds herself drawn back into her old life–and to Jamie. But she quickly starts to suspect that he isn’t telling her the whole truth.

All Rose knows is that it’s becoming harder to choose between the boy who makes her feel alive and the brother she isn’t ready to lose.

2019 Week 29 Update

Another usual week for me. I was slightly productive, but not as much as I would have liked it to be.

I do have pending tasks from last week which I am going to hunker down and finish it otherwise I will continously be behind!

I also accompanied GG to one of her interviews this week and spent the time waiting for her in catching up on the shows I had missed. I also had to accompany her to the hospital to review what we thought was a hairline fracture on her wrist. The review was a success because the senior doctors ruled out the fracture and said it was just a sprain and the line the initial doctor looking at her said was a hairline fracture was her bones still growing.

I am now researching for our India trip at the end of the year. We will be visiting a major metro in the south to visit my maternal grandmother as well as to visit S’ clan temple plus other temples in the vicninity. GG, BB & me are history buffs and some of the temple architecture is simply amazing which we are looking forward to seeing.

That’s all for this week. We’re almost at the end of July also which makes our O level exams looming frighteningly and that’s the big stress in the household which will only end in mid-November!

Have a fantastic week folks!

2019 Secondary 4 Week 29 Update

Both BB & GG had an EAE interview this week and GG rounded the week with an aptitude test for her first choice course. This ended all of BB’s interviews while GG still has one more to go.

We also went to the hospital to review GG’s fractured wrist. After removing the cast and reviewing her x-rays by two senior doctors, they conculded that there was no fracture in the first place, but the line the attending doctor at the A&E saw was actually her bones still growing. So that was a huge relief for us, especially since her science teacher mentioned about this saying that if the cast was to be there for a while, they would need to write in to the ministry of education to get her extra time during the O level exams.

Speaking of which, we are now at a countdown to the exams. Prelims start soon and the main exams are less than three months away. If GG & BB don’t get into their course of choice, then they have no choice but to do well in their exams and then make it to the course they want to get into.

Stress levels are going through the roof as we get closer to the exams. I for one can’t wait for the last exam to come soon!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

The Love Goddess’ Cooking School – Melissa Senate

Holly Maguire’s grandmother Camilla was the Love Goddess of Blue Crab Island, Maine—a Milanese fortune-teller who could predict the right man for you, and whose Italian cooking was rumoured to save marriages. Holly has been waiting years for her unlikely fortune: her true love will like sa cordula, an unappetizing old-world delicacy. But Holly can’t make a decent marinara sauce, let alone sa cordula. Maybe that’s why the man she hopes to marry breaks her heart. So when Holly inherits Camilla’s Cucinotta, she’s determined to forget about fortunes and love and become an Italian cooking teacher worthy of her grandmother’s legacy.

But Holly’s four students are seeking much more than how to make Camilla’s chicken alla Milanese. Simon, a single father, hopes to cook his way back into his daughter’s heart. Juliet, Holly’s childhood friend, hides a painful secret. Tamara, a serial dater, can’t find the love she longs for. And twelve-year-old Mia thinks learning to cook will stop her dad, Liam, from marrying his phoney lasagna-queen girlfriend. As the class gathers each week, adding Camilla’s essential ingredients of wishes and memories in every pot and pan, unexpected friendships and romances are formed—and tested. Especially when Holly falls hard for Liam…and learns a thing or two about finding her own recipe for happiness.
