2019 Week 5 Update

Wow! We are already in week 5 and in Feb!

This was my usual week with nothing really of note happening.

I met up with some ex colleagues last week. We worked together with my manager who passed away and about whom I wrote last week. We spent a nice evening reminiscing about our manager and also sharing stories about him as well as the time we were together in that organisation. It was a nice evening and we have also decided to do this more frequently.

Oh, I mentioned about this interview I went to last week where I was not sure if it was a good fit. Well, they thought too and sent me a regret note. I knew this would happen and at the interview i spoke about what was important to me in an organisation, things that I knew that this place (with an overwhelmingly young workforce) would not really like. My thinking was that even after all that, if they do make me an offer, it would mean they are ok with what I need. I had so many doubts after I completed the interview that I am glad I don’t have to turn them down.

Have a wonderful and productive week folks!

And to those who are welcoming the year of the Earth Boar, Gong Xi Fa Cai, Xin Nian Quai Le! Happy Lunar New Year.

2019 Secondary 4 Week 5 Update

Month one of Sec 4 is over. Next week is a very short week because of Chinese New Year. Monday is a half day with hardly any school work as the schools will celebrate CNY. They will go back to school only for two days this week.

School has been fine so far, with no major issues coming out. So I am thinking it as no news is good news.

I’ve drastically reduced BB’s computer usage from this month and when he came back saying that his friends don’t study so much, I countered that if he can get as much marks as his Best Friend (who is in the top 5 in the class) then I will back off. So we will make another call after the first common test which will take place at the end of this month.

GG, as part of being her CCA leader, was asked to meet with her school’s vice principal. The VP was meeting all CCA leaders from the graduating cohort to talk about school work and how they are coping with school and CCA pressures. He also asked about future plans and has told them to reach out to their Teachers if they need any help.

So that was our school week. Happy Sunday!!

London 1932. Narrator Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie, 34th in line to the throne, is flat broke. She bolted from Scotland — and engagement to Fishface (Prince Stiegfriend) — for London, where she has:

a) built a fire in the hearth

b) fallen for an absolutely unsuitable Irish peer

c) made a few quid housekeeping incognita, and

d) been summoned by the Queen to spy on her playboy son

When an arrogant Frenchman trying to swipe her family estate winds up dead in her bathtub, how can she clear her very long family name?

Poem: Let’s Save our World

Let’s Save our World

Source

I was reading about how the climate in various parts of the world has been changing and not for the better and this poem is a cry from the heart. As the adults in this world, we need to do something and very soon otherwise the world we leave for our children and their children will just not exist anymore!

Let’s Save our World

I sat alone looked up at the clear blue sky as I pondered

Watching the clouds float by and wondered

Thinking and feeling about my lineage

Will clouds and clear blue skies be in their heritage?

I started thinking about the world we live in

The one that we are custodians of

How we have made such a mess

Making sure our children inherit all our stress

Can we as the adults in this world

Make sure we leave this place better than we found it?

But, looking at what our ‘so-called’ leaders do

Makes me doubt if this will really be true

Our children and their children stand to get

A world so flawed, it needs to be reset

Climate change, the ozone layer, global warming

These are not just words anymore but dire warnings

To ensure we work quickly to start putting things right

Otherwise, we soon won’t have a home, things will take flight
